In fact, this is an awesome LEGO book packed with great ideas of things you can build on your own without detailed LEGO instructions. The book is a good-looking large hardback with a 3-D front cover. The content is divided into useful sections so you can get a number of ideas of something to build without needing to search through the book. Lots of the ideas looked intriguing to me, and I think kids would have a ball making their own creations. It would help if you had some boxes of stray LEGO bricks available, so you can use lots of different pieces.I highly recommend the book for any LEGO fan. It will enhance your building experiences.
I was somewhat disappointed with this book. I was hoping there would be more creative ideas for just bricks. For the kids who have a hodge podge of Legos. Most of the stuff in the book my 6 year old feels like he can't do because he doesn't have the "right bricks". I have encouraged him to use his imagination and use other bricks in their place. But I wanted to let others interested know that a lot of the pictures look like something you'd make with bought sets.
I bought this book for my 8 year old son to go along with the Lego sets I bought him for Christmas. The book is hardcover and has colored pages. It offered great ideas for my son, but a lot of the projects required a lot of hard to find pieces that the normal Lego's sets do not usually include a lot of. I would recommend this product for someone that has a large selection of more specialized pieces (which we did not have). The same author has other Lego books out there that require less specialized Lego pieces that might be better for someone with a limited selection of Lego's. Overall, the book was good but I would recommend it for older kids as it does not include the step by step instructions and illustration that you would normally find when you buy Lego product.
I am an AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego) and while I started buying sets for my daughter (Lego Friends mostly), I have been collecting sets for a few years now for myself. While I like to keep most of my sets intact to rebuild, I find that this book has introduced me into thinking about building in a different way. Some of the negative reviewers state that there are many "special" bricks that won't be in the average collection. That is true...but I would never have thought to buy Mixels or Technic sets before. This is my favourite of the Idea books and while I won't rush to source all the elements I don't have, I am enjoying trying out some of the ideas in the book.I waited until it was on sale before I bought it, but to me it was worth it. The photos are fantastic and detailed, and there are showstopper builds at the end of each chapter which really showcases what can be done with a simple brick and unlimited imagination.A great addition to a Lego Library.
I bought this for my 5 year old grandson. He has many different sets that belonged to his dad, but the ideas in this book require a wide range of pieces that are not part of any normal set. I was disappointed it didn't offer suggestions and builds for the regular Lego pieces.
I bought this for my 5 year old son who can build projects meant for a 14 year old. Unfortunately, it was hard to find all the necessary lego pieces to build as in the book. We have over 1000 pieces from different sets but it was still very hard to find all the right pieces. I wish the book came with its own lego pieces to match the projects.
Returned it. Great for someone with a large & varied amount of legos. Ideas in this book were very elaborate. We needed something that was much more basic.
3 Stars because you have to own ENDLESS unique Lego pieces and characters to build just about anything in this book! I don't recommend this unless you have bought almost every Lego box out there, for the last 10 years.
The printed holographic cover was put upside on my book, though like in life and legos its the imperfections that make it beautiful. Overall good book with some nifty building idea. It gives you simple instructions, lego brick types and quantity needed, and pictures that are a little more advanced (fewer steps so you will add more pieces to save space in the book) than traditional lego sets. Crisp clear pictures to help you see detail as well. Worth every penny! It being a hardback it should hold up with kids.
